Moving CamDRAW to a New Computer
A CamDRAW licence is bound to one computer. Moving it to another is a two-step process: release it where it is, then activate it where you want it. Both steps need an internet connection.
Do the deactivation before you retire the old machine. Once it is wiped or no longer starts, releasing the licence from it is no longer straightforward.
Step 1: deactivate on the old computer
Open CorelDRAW and start CamDRAW from the bottom of the Tools menu.
Click the gear icon at the top of the CamDRAW docker, next to the logo.
Go to the Info tab, the last of the four tabs in the settings window.
Click License information. The window shows the product, your key, the status and the licensee.
Click Deactivate license. The licence is released from this computer and becomes available for a new activation.
Note the licence key somewhere before you finish, or keep the original order email. You need the same key on the new machine.
Step 2: install and activate on the new computer
Install CorelDRAW first, then CamDRAW. Close CorelDRAW, run the CamDRAW setup as administrator, select the CorelDRAW version, and install.
Open CorelDRAW, start CamDRAW from the Tools menu, then open the settings with the gear icon, go to the Info tab, and click Activate license. Paste the key and click the arrow icon.
If CamDRAW does not appear under Tools after installing, close CorelDRAW and restart it while holding F8, then confirm the workspace reset.
Copying your settings across
The licence is only part of the move. Your tool lists, postprocessors and application settings are stored separately, and copying them saves setting everything up again.
They live at:
C:\Users<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\CamDRAW 4
AppData is hidden in Windows Explorer by default. Either switch on hidden items under the View tab, or paste %AppData%\CamDRAW 4 into the Explorer address bar.
The folder contains the application settings file, the inch and millimetre tool lists, a log file, a postprocessors folder holding your presets, and a backup folder written each time the application starts.
Copy the whole folder to the same location on the new computer after installing CamDRAW there and before starting it for the first time. If CamDRAW has already run once, close CorelDRAW before replacing the folder.
What you do not need to copy
Your CorelDRAW documents already contain their own machining data. Toolpaths, tools, zero points, cutting data and precision settings are stored inside each CDR file, so a project opened on the new computer brings its setup with it.
That is worth knowing if you skip copying the settings folder: individual jobs still work, you simply start with the default tool list rather than yours.
If deactivation is no longer possible
If the old computer has failed, been sold or reinstalled without deactivating first, contact our support team. Have your licence key and order details ready. Releasing a licence in this situation is a manual step on our side, not something that can be done from the new machine.
